英語リスニング修行（Topic 3）

Pancakes　　パンケーキ

恒例の dictation です。恥ずかしながら、細かなところを聴き落とし、聞き間違いをしています。たとえいったん聞き間違えても、文脈のなかで本来こういう言葉が入るはずと修正をすべきところ、そのまま流してしまったいくつかの語がありました。以下はその例で、左が間違い、右が正しい。

butter →　batter
agreed　→　a great
so sample　→ so simple
coacher （そんな言葉はない）→ culture
pre estwork （そんな言葉はない）→ prehistoric
あ、冠詞の間違いはしょっちゅうです。

道半ば、いまだ先は遠し。

Who knew something so simple could be so delicious? No wonder it’s one of the oldest recipes in the world; goes back to prehistoric times. And every culture through the world seems to have a variation on it. America has its flapjacks, while the French have their slightly fancier crepes. They’re lighter and not necessarily sweet; you can have  savory crepes with all sorts of meats and cheeses if that suits your fancy. The Japanese have their okomiyaki, which I guess is a type of pancake. I’m a big fan of that. But most of all I love the sweet variety; it’s my comfort food.

こんなにシンプルでおいしいもの、知ってるかい？ 世界で最も古い料理のひとつだよ。 発祥は先史時代にさかのぼる。世界のあらゆる文化でその派生が見つかる。アメリカにはフラップジャックが、フランスには少しおしゃれなクレープが。クレープは薄くてあっさり、必ずしも甘いわけじゃない。いろんな種類の肉とチーズでおいしいクレープができる。日本にはお好み焼きがあるけど、パンケーキの一種だと思うんだ。これも大好きなんだ。でも何よりも甘いやつが大好き。それがぼくの「いけてる食べ物」だ。
